Living at The Estates at Heathbrook is not only convenient to many shops, restaurants and central Florida attractions, but its convenient location also makes weekend nature getaways entirely possible. While some may choose to escape to the beach, others may choose to head out camping, kayaking or fishing.

Ocala National Forest offers anglers abundant opportunities to enjoy freshwater fishing. There are several locations for catching bass including Lake George and Lake Kerr. Those who prefer to cast for panfish may do so at one of several smaller lakes. One area to enjoy a tranquil afternoon of fishing is Fore Lake Pier & Launch, located outside of the Fore Lake Recreation Area.

River and stream fishing are also available with the Ocklawaha River and three spots offering access to the waterway including the Eureka Dam Boat Ramp, Johnson Field Boat Ramp and the Moss Bluff Lock & Dam. Another option is Alexander Run, which you can access via 52 Landing where you will also find canoe rentals.

Whether you are new to the pasttime or have been fishing for years, Ocala National Forest provides plenty of places for fantastic fishing. Another thing to note is that a valid Florida Freshwater Fishing License is required if you plan on doing fishing of any kind.
